Ukraine will send its experts to the Baltic states and Romania to help counter Russian drones. These are Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Romania.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this during a joint press conference with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in Kyiv.
Ukrainian experts will share combat experience
According to the head of state, Ukrainian specialists will advise military partners on countering drones and will share the practical experience that Ukraine gained during the war with Russia.
The president noted that the relevant agreements have already been reached, and the dates for the arrival of Ukrainian experts have also been determined.
“Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, I think, and Romania too. We agreed, we will train experts. There are dates when our experts arrive there,” Zelenskyy said.
Russian drones are already reaching NATO countries
The issue of protection against drones has become particularly relevant after the latest incidents in Romania.
On the night of May 29, a Russian drone crashed into a multi-story residential building in the Romanian border city of Galati. The impact caused a fire, injured two people, and evacuated about 70 residents.
In addition, another Russian drone was found near the village of Besesti in Maramures County. It did not explode and did not have a warhead.
Later, Romanian President Nikusor Dan reported that an examination confirmed that a Russian-made Geran-2 drone had hit the residential building.
Ukraine becomes a center of military expertise
Against the backdrop of constant attacks by Russian drones, Ukrainian experience in the field of air defense and counter-drones is increasingly being studied by NATO allies.
Ukrainian military and technical specialists already have unique practical experience in countering massive attacks by Shahed, Geranium, and other types of strike drones, which will now be used by Ukraine’s partners in Europe.
