Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda has expressed his readiness to mediate in the dialogue between Ukraine and Poland amid growing tensions in bilateral relations.

According to the Lithuanian leader, such a role is possible only with the mutual consent of Kyiv and Warsaw. Nauseda stressed that, despite the importance of historical issues, the key priority today remains the security of the region and countering Russian aggression.

The Lithuanian President stressed that he is ready to listen to the positions of both sides and contribute to the search for compromise solutions. In his opinion, in the current geopolitical conditions, maintaining unity between allies is critically important.

In parallel, Polish President Karol Nawrocki held informal consultations with leaders of the region on the eve of the NATO summit. During the meeting, they discussed the security of the Baltic and Black Sea regions, strengthening the eastern flank of the Alliance, the development of Europe’s defense potential, and the future of the European Union.

The meeting was also attended by the presidents of Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and Romania. Against the backdrop of these negotiations, the topic of Ukrainian-Polish dialogue remains one of the key ones for stability in Eastern Europe.
