Poland has canceled the previously announced transfer of MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine, which are being decommissioned. This was stated by the Minister of National Defense of Poland Wladyslaw Kosyniak-Kamysz in an interview with the Polish TV channel Polsat News.
According to the head of the Polish Ministry of Defense, Warsaw offered Kyiv a “partnership exchange”: aircraft in exchange for unmanned technologies and practical experience in using drones on the battlefield. Initially, the Ukrainian side agreed to such conditions.
In particular, it was about transferring to Poland know-how in the field of using drones, as well as some of the technological solutions that the Ukrainian military actively uses during the war.
However, according to Kosyniak-Kamysz, later Ukraine withdrew from these agreements. As a result, Warsaw decided not to transfer the fighters.
“There are no MiGs for Ukraine, because there are no drones or unmanned capabilities for Poland,” the Polish minister concluded.
Currently, the Polish Air Force has 14 Mikoyan MiG-29 fighters, some of which were planned to be transferred to Ukraine as part of defense support.
