Russian troops are actively strengthening defensive positions in the temporarily occupied Crimea, preparing for a potential Ukrainian landing. The Ukrainian Navy confirms that the scenario of de-occupation of the peninsula with a naval component remains real.
This was stated in an interview with The Kyiv Independent by the spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy, Dmitry Pletenchuk.
According to him, despite the dense system of air and anti-ship defense of the Russian Federation, naval landing operations have not lost their relevance.
“There is an axiom: the territory is not considered liberated until an infantryman sets foot on it. And we regularly conduct exercises in landing operations,” Pletenchuk emphasized.
He emphasized that the Russian army takes the threat of a landing quite seriously, therefore it is strengthening the most vulnerable areas of the Crimean coast.
Moreover, the spokesman for the Navy stated that he is personally ready to participate in such an operation.
“I hope there will be more landings. At least I personally signed up to participate in the landing, if it takes place,” he said.
The Navy emphasizes: any sea landing will not be considered a separate operation, but will become part of a comprehensive military plan for the deoccupation of Crimea.
Recall that in August 2023, fighters of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, together with the Navy, carried out a successful landing on Cape Tarkhankut near the settlement of Mayak, causing losses to Russian forces.
After the latest strikes on logistical routes to the peninsula, in particular bridges, the commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces of Ukraine, Robert Brovdy, announced work on isolating Crimea from the Russian rear.
Against this background, statements by the Ukrainian military increasingly indicate: the issue of the deoccupation of Crimea remains not political, but military-strategic.
